Nicola Diviani is working as post-doc researcher on several projects at the Institute of Communication and Health (ICH) and as seminar lecturer for the undergraduate courses “Research methods for communication sciences” and “Theories and semiotic models of communication”.
After obtaining a BA in Communication Sciences from Bologna University (Italy) with a thesis on the AIDS campaign of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, Nicola has started a MSc in Institutional Communication (focus on Health Communication) at the Università della Svizzera italiana in 2005 and he graduated in 2008 with a thesis on a content analysis of an online discussion forum, where activists discuss about possible detrimental health effects of non-ionizing radiation.
From March 2008 to November 2011 he has been working as a scientific collaborator and as a PhD student at the Institute of Communication and Health, where he was involved in different research projects. He spent the last year of his doctoral studies as a visiting scholar at Harvard School of Public Health and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston (USA) where he finalized his PhD dissertation, in which he was interested in establishing a concept of Health Literacy in the field of cancer. He obtained his PhD in Communication Science in November 2011.
