"Children and Adolescents in a Mobile Media World"

Short Abstract:
Children and adolescents increasingly turn to mobile media devices, the smartphone in particular, to stay connected with family and friends and access a variety of digital media contents and services including social media, music, videos, and games. The everytime-and-everywhere-access to mobile media has changed children’s and adolescents’ everyday life with potential implications on their health and development. The preconference wants to address these issues both from a theoretical and methodological perspective.

• Role of mobile media in children’s and adolescents’ everyday life

• Methodological challenges of research on mobile media use

• Parental mediation and monitoring of mobile media use

• Impact of mobile media on children’s and adolescents’ psycho-physical health and development

• Mobile media and children’s and adolescents’ privacy

• Mobile media contents and activities: new phenomena or old habits

• Use of mobile media in school

Submissions:
Abstracts of 500 words (excluding tables, figures, and references) should outline the research topic as well as the theoretical and methodological approach. All abstracts will be subject to double-blind peer review. Please submit the abstract including names, affiliations, and contact details (email) in an edible format by 30 April 2018 to [email protected].

We received many interesting submissions. Upon request, we extended the deadline to 9 May 2018 to allow all those to submit an abstract who may want to do so based on the decision of acceptance for the main conference to be communicated by 7 May 2018.

Notification of acceptance: 15 June 2018
Registration: 28 October 2018 (31 July 2018 for early bird fee)
