Call for a post-doctorate researcher
The Archivio di Moderno di Mendrisio has a position open for a post-doctorate researcher. The position is for 2 years with 50% as part of the three-year research project “Moskovsky stil Ampir” Architecture in the Reconstruction of Moscow (1813-1843), promoted by the Archivio del Moderno di Mendrisio, together with MArchi (the Moscow Architectural Institute) and funded by the SNSF (the Swiss National Science Foundation). Among the main requirements: PhD (recently awarded) in History of Architecture/Art History.

We are seeking excellent candidates at different levels to take part in a challenging and interesting project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) aiming to develop novel theoretical and computational methods for modeling, representation and computation of generic data similarity and applying them to problems in Internet-scale computer vision, pattern recognition, and medical imaging.

Applicants should hold a Master
(or equivalent degree) and have a strong background in applied math, computer vision, image analysis and/or machine learning. Excellent programming skills are required. Publication record is a big advantage. Successful candidates will be offered a fully funded PhD position with competitive salary.

The Faculty of Informatics provides an exciting environment in which to develop a research career. The successful student will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the general field of informatics, as well as an in-depth specialization in an area of interest. Working with one or more members of the Faculty, the student will contribute original, useful, and scientifically valid ideas in their chosen area of research. In addition, the student will have an opportunity to participate in the educational mission of the Faculty. Current research interests of the Faculty include all aspects of software engineering, computer systems, information systems, algorithm design and verification.

Admission to the Ph.D. program is highly competitive. Applicants are admitted based on their research interests and experience, potential for success in the program, and compatibility with current needs of the Faculty. The official language of the Ph.D. program is English. In order to be admitted, the applicant must have completed a Masters degree in computer science, informatics, or a closely related field prior to joining the program.
