Section 1. Research at USI by Guido Conaldi
Research Areas
My research lies in area of social network analysis. I study both interpersonal and organizational social networks. More specifically, I investigate the social mechanisms contributing to the endogenous formation and evolution of structure and hierarchy in self-organizing communities. My current research project focuses on the network-level determinants of survival, growth, and success of communities of open source software developers. I look at knowledge and collaboration networks and the impact of network re-configurations on project management and innovation capabilities. I also devote specific attention to the methodological implications of my empirical research by studying techniques for data collection and management, measurement and modelling of large archival datasets for the study of social networks.
