Johannes M Pennings is the Marie and Joseph Melone Professor of Management at the Wharton School. He previously taught at the Columbia University and Carnegie Mellon University. He received a PhD from the University of Michigan and BA/MA from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. His current research deals with (1) entrepreneurship, living dead start ups, in the wireless communication industry and (2) the strategic implications of shift in the imaging sector from chemical to electronic based technology over the period 1975-2006. Earlier he completed research on the trajectory of firms diversifying abroad. He has published over 100 papers in academic journals, anthologies and other outlets, and published seven books.
