Biography
Prof. Degeorge has been a full professor in the Faculty of Economics since 2003, and he holds a Senior Chair from the Swiss Finance Institute. His research focuses on empirical corporate finance and has been published in leading academic journals. Prof. Degeorge taught at HEC Paris from 1993 to 2003, and was the Associate Dean for Research there from 1998 to 2003. He holds a PhD from Harvard University and a Master´s Degree from HEC Paris. He is a former Fulbright and Arthur Sachs scholar. He has received the following awards: Banque Privée Espirito Santo/Swiss Finance Institute Research Prize (2009), Credit Suisse Teaching Award (2005-2006), SWX Best Paper Award (2006), Merton Miller Prize (2000); Inquire Europe First Prize (1998 and 2003); the HEC Foundation Prize in 1994; and in 1993 he was nominated for the Smith Breeden Prize.
Dall´ottobre 2003 è professore ordinario di finanza presso la nostra Facoltà, ed è titolare di una cattedra (Senior Chair) dello Swiss Finance Institute. La sua ricerca in corporate finance è stata pubblicata in affermate riviste accademiche. Ha insegnato alla HEC di Parigi dal 1993, assumendone nel 1998 la carica di Decano Associato per la ricerca. Ha ottenuto un PhD alla Harvard University e un Master alla HEC. Ha vinto borse di studio delle fondazioni Fulbright e Arthur Sachs. Ha ottenuto i seguenti riconoscimenti: Banque Privée Espirito Santo/Swiss Finance Institute Research Prize (2009), il Credit Suisse Teaching Award nel per l´anno 2005-2006, SWX Best Paper Award nel 2006, il Merton Miller Prize nel 2000, il Primo Premio Inquire Europe nel 1998 e nel 2003, il Premio Fondation HEC nel 1994, e nel 1993 è stato nominato per lo Smith Breeden Prize.
