Cultural diversity of the ilness representation in Switzerland

The focus of this study lies upon the illness representation of musculosceletal symptoms which are medically unexplained. Assuming that language and the relevant social norms have an impact on the perception, understanding and definition of these symptoms, the illness represenation is analysed in the different language regions of Switzerland. In addition, a potential difference in the represenation of illness between the physician and the patient is examined.
