To use the washing machine and the dryer you need a key that you will receive upon your arrival.

You can top up your key at the Housing Service front desk buying a credit.

Credit minimum amount: CHF 10.00 (enough for about 5 laundry cycles).

Payment accepted: cash only (currency: Swiss francs)

No money back: it is your responsibility only to check the credit left on your key and how to manage it. Once you buy a credit, you cannot have any money back.

USIHOME occupants are responsible for cleaning the rooms and the common areas.

At the end of the stay at USIHOME, occupants must return the room and the common areas perfectly clean and operational. Failure to comply will entitle the USIHOME administration to deduct 200 francs from the security deposit.

The procedure for the return of the room is indicated in the document "departure information". This document is to be filled out and sent by e-mail to the Housing Service ([email protected]) at least 3 weeks before leaving. It is important to indicate date and time of departure on the form.
A USI staff member will inspect the room and common area.

Upon arrival and departure, the occupant will sign a damage report.

Places are limited and priority is given to exchanges students. Room availability cannot be guaranteed.

Exchanges students applying for accommodation for autumn semester (September-January) must apply for a room no later than by the last week of May.

After this date there won't be any priority given.

The security deposit must be paid within the deadline that the housing team will provide by e-mail, at the latest within the second week of July.

Exchanges students applying for accommodation for the spring semester (February-June) must apply for a room no later than by the second week of November.

After this date there won't be any priority given.

The security deposit must be paid within the deadline that the housing team will provide by e-mail, at the latest within the first week of December.

• Monthly rent, all included, single room CHF 600.00

Rooms will be assigned on a first come, first served basis (online reservations).

The full monthly rent is due every month, even if departure is before the end of a given month. Example: for a departure on July 15, the rent is due for the entire month of July.  

• Security deposit

Security deposit CHF 1'000.00.
At the end of the lease, a forfeit of 100 Swiss francs will be deducted from the security deposit to cover administrative costs and final cleaning, as by lease agreement.

The security deposit must be paid by bank wire.
The amount must be exactly CHF 1'000.00 (one thousand Swiss francs). We cannot accept payments in other currencies, therefore bank wires from abroad must be made in Swiss francs (CHF). All fees or commissions will be charged to the tenant.
The bank wire must include the indication "deposito USIHOME" + your full name (e.g.: "deposito USIHOME John Smith").

Failure to meet the payment deadline for the security deposit shall entitle USI to assign the room to another student.

• Rent

Rent is to be paid exclusively by postal payment slip (QR code slips), which are provided by the Housing Service, either at the nearest Swiss postal office or at any bank in Switzerland.

Rent is due in advance by the 5th day of each month.
The tenant may pay in advance the entire amount due by lease agreement. Please contact the Housing Service for details.

Payments are possible by remote payment slip (QR code) if the tenant has a checking account at a Swiss bank and if said bank provides an e-banking service.
The same goes for Swiss Post (Postfinance) and its e-finance system.

Failure to meet the payment deadlines will imply the administrative fees listed below:

• First reminder CHF 20.00
• Second and further reminders CHF 50.00 each

USI Accommodation Service will send the final confirmation by e-mail and the room reservation will be guaranteed only after the payment of the security deposit on the USI postal checking account.

The lease agreement has a semester duration.
All lease agreements expire at the end of January and/or at the end of June.
