È professore ordinario di Ingegneria del software presso il Politecnico di Milano. In passato ha svolto attività didattica all´Università di Padova, all´Università della California a Los Angeles e a Santa Barbara, all´Università della North Carolina a Chapel Hill, alla Technische Universität di Vienna, all´Università di Klagenfurt, all´ESLAI in Argentina. È fellow dell´Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) dal 1999. Svolge intensa attività in comitati scientifici e redazionali italiani e internazionali; in particolare, è stato general chair dell´International Conference on Software Engineering nel 2000 ed è attualmente editor-in-chief delle Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology dell´ACM. È stato revisore di progetti e di istituti internazionali di ricerca in Svezia, Finlandia e Giappone e ha fatto parte del nucleo di valutazione delle università inglesi per l´area "Computer Science". È membro dell´advisory board della School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IÇ) al Politecnico di Losanna. Svolge intensa attività di ricerca nel settore dell´ingegneria del software e ha pubblicato oltre 130 articoli scientifici su riviste internazionali e su atti di congressi internazionali ed è autore di numerosi testi e saggi.

Carlo Ghezzi is a Professor and Chair of Software Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he is the Rector´s delegate for research. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Lugano.
He is an ACM Fellow, an IEEE Fellow, and a member of the Italian Academy of Sciences. He received the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Service Award. He has been on the evaluation board of several international research projects and institutions in Europe, Japan, and the USA.
He has been member of the program committee of important conferences in software engineering, such as the ICSE and ESEC/FSE, for which he also served as Program and General Chair. He was General Co-Chair of the International Conference on Service Oriented Computing.
Ghezzi has been the Editor in Chief of the ACM Trans. on Software Engineering and Methodology. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Trans. on Software Engineering, Science of Computer Programming, Service Oriented Computing and Applications, and Software Process Improvement and Practice.
Ghezzi´s research has been focusing on software engineering and programming languages. He co-authored over 150 papers and 8 books. He coordinated several national and international (EU funded) research projects.
