Studying at UniversitÓ della Svizzera italiana
The USI Università della Svizzera italiana is a multi-lingual university with a strong international orientation. Its faculty and students come from at least 100 different countries. USI was also among the first universities in Switzerland to adopt the new European university structure (called "Bologna declaration" or "3+2"), encouraging students' mobility across European campuses.
Courses are mainly taught in Italian and English. USI also continuously introduces innovative and effective teaching methods, such as the "dual language system", thus reinforcing its international character and its role of academic bridge between Italy and the rest of Switzerland.
USI is part of the Swiss academia network through participation in the National strategic programs. Privileged ties with the main universities of Lombardy (Italy) extend and improve the courses offer, through "dual degree" Master programs.
Being the only university of Italian language and culture in the Swiss academia, USI has chosen to emphasize this character with the creation of an Institute for Italian Studies and a cross-disciplinary Master in Italian Literature and Culture. To complete ISI's curriculum a new Bachelor course in Italian Language, Literature and Italian Civilization has been offered from the academic year 2012/2013.
Top-quality teachers and high teacher-student ratio favour frequent stimulating contacts between students and teachers. With its excellent infrastructures, ample study rooms, advanced technologies for teaching, computer labs accessible day and night, parks, canteen, and a cafeteria - USI offers its students a friendly, familiar and safe environment, ideal for university life.
USI stands out for its genuinely cross-disciplinary education, whose quality and innovation are constantly object of careful analysis. The diverse curricula, increasingly focused as the course of study takes a specific direction, create highly specialized professionals in their distinctive areas of expertise.
The various Bachelor and Master curricula are systematically compared with the needs and requirements emerging from the job market. This is why USI graduates have no difficulty in findings jobs and positions adequate to their title and expectations.
