Biography:

Viviana Meschitti obtained her PhD in Communication Sciences at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), in 2012. Her dissertation, supervised by prof. Antonella Carassa, couples ethnography and discourse analysis, with the aim to investigate team collaboration and socialization of doctoral students in an academic research group.

Viviana has worked for seven years as a research assistant within USI Equal Opportunities Service, where she was especially in charge of coordinating the mentoring programmes for women academics.

Previously she obtained a Master of Science in Media management (USI 2006) and an European graduate certificate in intercultural communication (EMICC-Eurocampus 2004). She also worked as an intern within the European Commission in Brussels, DG Information Society and Media.

Her scientific interests are focused on communication, learning, and use of artefacts within work settings, and more particularly on: intersection between work practices and organizational cultures; communities of practice; mutual engagement within teams; leadership; gender and intercultural issues within workplaces; role and relevance of qualitative methodologies within organization studies.
