Biography:
Marta Cola is research fellow at the Institute of Media and Journalism, Faculty of Communication Sciences where she is lecturer in "Media research" (La ricerca sui media). In June 2007 she obtained a PhD in Communication Sciences at the University of Lugano with a dissertation on "Media Uses, Activity Spaces and (trans)Border identities", supervised by Prof. Giuseppe Richeri and Prof. Michele Sorice. In 2003 she obtained a Swiss National Science Foundation scholarship and she has been visiting PhD student at the University of Sunderland, Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies, supervised by Professor Shaun Moores (November 2003-January 2004), and at the University of Stirling, Department of Film and Media Studies, supervised by Professor Matthew Hibberd (February-May 2004). Her research interests are on audiences, relation between media use and identity, global media, social geography.
