In the framework of the expert group charged by the European Commission to propose a set of indicators for the monitoring of the European Resarch Area, this contract is analysing the indicators which allow to characterize the level and composition of public funding of research both at the European and national level. The report will be an input for the next edition of the key figures on European Science and Technology published by the European Commission.
