Research funding

Research at the University of Lugano (USI) is innovative and at pace with times. It attracts funding from external sources through competitive research proposals, accepted by the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research (SNFSR), the European Union and, for technological research, by the Federal Commission for Technology and Innovation.

In the year 2008, the total funding from external sources amounted to 9 millions CHF two-thirds of which came from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the European Union.

The spectacular growth of funding volume in the past years reflects the progressive consolidation and increasing international recognition of scientific research at the USI.
