USI on Social Media Channels
The Università della Svizzera italiana believes in the value of an open and constructive dialogue and sees the web 2.0 as one of the most crucial and fascinating ground of today's communication. Therefore, USI has decided to open six main themed channels on different social media, with different target audiences. In addition to the six main channels, USI counts the official profiles listed here.
Further information on the first USI Instagram contest promoted by the Social Media Board are available here.
Together with USI
The Facebook Page USI Università della Svizzera italiana (Official Page) is the most informal channel of all. Here students, staff, and professors of both USI campuses of Lugano and Mendrisio exchange ideas, gather information about practical issues and share in real time pictures and tips on events and the nightlife. The headline "Together with USI" is a clear invitation to the whole USI community to get involved.
Informed with USI
USI's Twitter Channel USI University is an instant and interactive hub for news and events of the Università della Svizzera italiana. Dedicated not only to journalists but to everyone interested in the University's activities, it broadcasts research findings, highlights achievements of USI's professors, and acts as a window on public lectures taking place on campus. According to its function, the official Twitter channel of the Università della Svizzera italiana is labeled "Informed with USI".
Professional with USI
The USI presence on LinkedIn is varied and structured on the different audiences. The University Page promotes the overall educational offer and is addressed mainly to current and prospective students. The Company Page plays a dual role, serving as an employer for all USI personnel and as a promoter of the university as an educational and cultural institution. The group USI - Università della Svizzera italiana is open to all USI students and graduates, staff and professors, allowing them to keep in touch and share experiences and professional expertise. The group USI Alumni is exclusive to USI graduates for sharing ideas and networking among former classmates. The groups are the ideal places to initiate discussions on topics related to the workplace, to post job offers and, for students and graduates, to seek professional advice from senior Alumni. The presence of USI on LinkedIn is underscored with the motto "Professional with USI". You can follow the University page here and request membership to the USI group here.
Starring with USI
USI University on YouTube gathers film footage of USI's activities. Interviews on current topics with professors, coverage of public lectures with prestigious guests and flash news about achievements in research can be found in the playlists dedicated to the four Faculties. Informal videos showing the academic community and student life, created to share the USI spirit, can be found in the University Life playlist. To sum it up we are going "Starring with USI".
Academic with USI
The USI iTunesU channel is the place where academic and scientific videos related to USI are posted: lecture series, guest speakers at prestigious events promoted by USI (e.g., keynote speeches during the Dies academicus), and public lecture series (e.g., the Lecturae Dantis series). Our motto is "Academic with USI", and our iTunesU channel is available here: https://itunes.apple.com/it/institution/usi-universita-della-svizzera/id557714470
Visual with USI
Through Instagram, USI not only intends to tap into the power of pictures taken on our campus, but also to convey the USI spirit and provide more visibility to the members of the community. The platform is a place for sharing our image, to promote our activities and to strengthen the sense of community. Students, Alumni, Faculty and staff members represent the main audience of this channel. Our motto is "Visual with USI", and you can find us here: www.instagram.com/usiuniversity
The project originates from the participation in the programme Swiss Academia and the Social Media Landscape, which is promoted by the State Secretariat for Education and Research SER.
