Francesco Franzoni obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He went on to pursue graduate studies in the US, where he obtained his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He joined our Faculty of Economics, as an assistant professor in September 2007. His research spans different areas of empirical finance. In particular, he has studied market efficiency in relation to the pricing of pension liabilities. He has also been interested in the impact of financial frictions and agency conflicts on market valuation. Another main area of his research is the study of the firm characteristics that determine the exposure to market risk. His work has been published in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and other international reviews. At USI, he teaches Capital Markets in the Master’s programme in Finance and Empirical Asset Pricing in the PhD programme.
