Biografia:
Nanon Labrie studied English Language & Literature (BA) and Language & Communication (BA) at the University of Amsterdam. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the same university, completing her Research Master´s program in Rhetoric, Argumentation Theory, and Philosophy with a thesis entitled "Conflict and Consultation: Maneuvering Strategically in Response to Patients’ Requests for Antibiotics". Since October 2010, Nanon Labrie holds a Ph.D. position at the Institute of Communication & Health at the University of Lugano. Her dissertation research focuses on the role of argumentative dialogue in medical consultation aimed at shared decision-making and the effects of doctors´ argumentative support for treatment advice on consultation outcomes. In addition to her dissertation research, Nanon Labrie is teaching assistant to Prof. P. J. Schulz for the "Health Communication" course (part of the MA program Management, Communication, & Health). Nanon Labrie has been granted the Fellowship for prospective researchers by the Swiss National Science Foundation to spend a full year as a visiting scholar at the NIVEL Institute (Utrecht, the Netherlands) and the University of California, Los Angeles.
