Tuition and scholarships for Bachelor's programmes

Tuition fees amount to CHF 4'000.- per semester. For students whose official residence was in Switzerland or Liechtenstein at the time of the final high school exam (Maturità), the fees are CHF 2'000.-. The semester's fees of CHF 2'000.- are also applied to students whose official residence is Campione d'Italia under certain conditions.
Tuition fees are payable at the beginning of each term by the deadline indicated on the invoice; fee payment is an essential condition for matriculating or renewing one's enrolment.

 

Scholarships granted by the Canton Ticino  

 

The Department of Education, Culture and Sport (Dipartimento dell’Educazione, della cultura e dello sport - DECS) of the Canton of Ticino provides financial support to students who meet its residency requirements.

Foundation for the Lugano Faculties of the Università della Svizzera italiana  

2024/25

For the academic year 2024/25, the Foundation for the Lugano Faculties of the Università della Svizzera italiana will award:

  • one-off scholarships of CHF 4'000 each to students admitted to the first year of the Bachelor in Communication, Bachelor in Data Science, Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in Informatics or Bachelor in Italian Language, Literature and Culture, who obtained their high-school degree and who at the moment of graduation had legal residence in the German- or French-speaking cantons of Switzerland. The aim is to increase the multilingual and multicultural diversity of our university. The scholarship is awarded automatically once the matriculation procedure has been completed. 
  • 20 annual scholarships to students admitted to the first year of the Bachelor in Communication, Bachelor in Data Science, Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in Informatics or Bachelor in Italian Language, Literature and Culture

Zonta Club Lugano Foundation

The Zonta Club Lugano Foundation awards several scholarships to students who reside in the Canton of Ticino - both Swiss and foreign with the C residence permit, who are attending a Bachelor's or a Master's degree programme. The application form together with the supporting documents has to be submitted to the Fondazione Zonta Club Lugano by October 31st, 2023.

 

“Arnoldo Bettelini” scholarship

2023/24 

The descendants of Arnoldo Bettelini, a Swiss naturalist and philanthropist who promoted the foundation of a university in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, make available a three-year scholarship covering the tuition fees for a Bachelor of the Università della Svizzera italiana, up to a maximum 4'000 CHF for each academic year. The call is open for Swiss and foreign students.

 

 

 
Ermes and Fiorella Borsari Foundation  

2023/24 

The Ermes and Fiorella Borsari Foundation offers scholarships for university studies in Economics and/or Fine arts (sculpture and painting), aimed at students born or residing in the Canton of Ticino who attend a Swiss university, a recognized or accredited Swiss university of applied sciences and arts or the Brera Academy in Milan. Deadline for submitting applications for subsidies: May 30th, 2024.

The Swiss Study Foundation offers a wide range of support for students with outstanding academic results (average: 5.3/6 or 8.8/10), who engage in activities in society and who speak at least two national languages. Fondazione Silvio e Marianne Tarchini

The Board of the Silvio and Marianne Tarchini Foundation is opening the competition for the award of scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic year. The scholarships are intended for deserving young Swiss people, primarily from Ticino, for university studies in Switzerland (including universities of applied sciences) or for other higher vocational training; preference is given to studies in economics or architecture.

The application must be completed and submitted electronically by the deadline of Saturday 15 October 2023.

Verzasca Foundation

 

With the aim of promoting research on topics relating to the Verzasca Valley, the Verzasca Foundation is instituting an annual prize open to all recent graduates from Switzerland or resident in Switzerland, enrolled in a Swiss or foreign university.

Master's or doctoral work will be awarded CHF 2000, and bachelor's or diploma work will be awarded CHF 1000. Papers in all fields of research, written in one of the 3 official languages (in special cases also in English), are eligible.

The submission deadline is the 31 July of each year.

 

Support for students with financial difficulties - Solidarity Fund
