On March 15, the world of research in the biomedical sciences that counts in Ticino will convene in the Lugano campus Aula Magna of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) for the 9th Giornata della Ricerca della Svizzera italiana (Research Day of the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland). Promoted and organised every year by the Clinical Trial Unit of the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) and USI, this Day has now become a key event in the field of biomedical sciences, serving also as a forum for the presentation of valuable scientific research published in leading medical journals in the world, and providing young researchers with an important opportunity to present their work and discuss it with established researchers.

Opening speeches will be given by Prof. Federica Sallusto (Istitute for Research in Biomedicine, IRB Bellinzona, and ETH Zurich) and by Prof. Dr. med. Mauro Manconi (USI, University of Berne, and Sleep and Epilepsy Centre of the Neurocentro della Svizzera italiana). A keynote speech will be given by former Secretary of State for Education, Research and Innovation, Mauro Dell'Ambrogio, who will discuss research policy in Switzerland and the challenges for the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.
