Protecting my invention: where do I start?

Il Litorale

Date: 8 May 2019 / 17:00 - 19:00

Auditorio Suglio, Via Cantonale 18, Manno

Researching the state of the art of an invention is recommended to understand whether an invention is patentable or not. Thanks to the new collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), the Agire Foundation will be able to offer directly from Tecnopolo di Manno the possibility to carry out the assisted research remotely by putting the applicants directly in contact with the expert in Bern.

The IPI in Bern offers a service for assisted patent searches. During the half-day search, a patent expert answers the applicant's questions and assists him/her in searching the freely accessible databases. The assisted search provides an overview of the state of the art in the relevant field of activity, determines the novelty of an invention and enables the best possible assessment of whether to proceed with the patent application.

Patents play an important role not only in industry but also in academia, where patents are an important means to balance the needs of innovation with the requirement of a university or research institute to publish. This topic will be discussed with Andrea Foglia, Technology Transfer Manager at USI Università della Svizzera italiana during a the conference organised by the Agire Foundation, on May 8, 2019, which is aimed at an audience of innovative startups, researchers, entrepreneurs, SMEs and students.

Attached is a detailed programme.
