Istitutional Open Access agreements

In the context of the promotion of Open Access at USI, the university libraries facilitated agreements with two Swiss publishers. USI researchers benefit from the following conditions on Article Processing Charges (APC) prices practiced by MDPI and Karger:
- 20% discount for all journals from MDPI (Gold OA publisher). The agreement started October 1st, 2019
- free APCs for all journals from Karger, Gold as well as Hybrid OA. The agreement will start January 1st, 2020
About the publishers:
MDPI: Based in Basel, MDPI has been active since 1996. MDPI publishes 211 peer-reviewed Open Access journals in various disciplines. All articles are distributetd under a Creative Commons (CC BY) license.
Karger: Publishes over 100 peer-reviewed journals, with a growing share in Gold Open Access. Karger, based in Basel, mainly publishes books and journals in the biomedical field.
