The traditional graduation ceremonies of USI Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society have come to an end today. From 11 to 18 May, for the first time, USI has announced the names of newly graduates through six interactive events in video streaming.

Despite the restrictions due to the COVID-19, the University has adopted all the necessary measures to give continuity to the academic path of students with, for example, distance lectures, online exams and by videoconferencing thesis defences and dissertations. Graduation ceremonies are part of the strategy, since this period of confinement makes it impossible to hold the traditional ceremony in the Aula magna. According to USI Rector Boas Erez "it was a different but equally enriching experience: broken down into several evenings, the ceremonies gave a voice to the graduates who were able to share, from their homes, reflections on the experience at USI and the future that awaits them. An invitation to the graduates and their loved ones has already been extended to celebrate this important milestone during the 25th anniversary of the birth of USI on 8 May 2021 at Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano".

The ceremonies, hosted by presenters Giada Marsadri and Julie Arlin, were in fact interactive, with the newly graduates connected via webcam and with the possibility of taking the floor thanks to the digital platform Skype for Business. In the first three sessions held on 11, 12 and 13 May, 61 students from 10 different countries were awarded their Bachelor's (8) and Master's (53) diplomas in Economics. Then, on 14, 15 and 18 May, the sessions dedicated to the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society were held, with the announcement of the names of 58 Bachelor (34) and Master (24) graduates of 9 different nationalities.
