Università della Svizzera italiana is pleased to invite the media to the press conference for the presentation of the new Ticino Observatory on Organised Crime, recently launched within USI Law Institute (IDUSI). The competence centre, developed in collaboration with RSI, will be presented on Wednesday, 12 May at 10:00 am in the Lugano West campus Aula magna (held in Italian).

"Italian mafias currently pose a considerable threat to Switzerland." In December 2019, the Federal Department of Justice and Police sounded the alarm: in Switzerland, as in many other countries, criminal organisations from across the border have been operating for a long time and in many fields. Starting from this premise, USI and RSI have created the new Observatory, entrusting the academic responsibility to Dr Annamaria Astrologo and the operational responsibility to RSI journalist Francesco Lepori. During the press conference, the Observatory activities will be presented - from the richness of the archive to the potential for research to the organisation of public events - and ample space will be given to the authorities' perspectives in the fight against organised crime.

Participation in the event in presence by invitation only. Follow the live stream online at the following link: https://vimeo.com/545409089
