Rafael Lorentz is awarded the 2021 Prize for Promoting Research in Art History

Rafael Lorentz, a PhD student at the USI Academy of Architecture, received the 2021 Prize for the Promotion of Research in Art History awarded by the Swiss Association of Art Historians.

Each year, the Swiss Association of Art Historians awards two grant prizes to young art historians of CHF 4,000 and CHF 6,000. The purpose of the prize is to promote young researchers in Switzerland.

A jury awarded the prizes in the "Junior" and "Senior" categories for the best essays and theses on an art-historical theme from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age.

 

The 2021 winners were awarded on 15 October:

For the Senior category: Rafael Lorentz, USI Academy of Architecture, "On the foundations of composition: Peter Zumthor's first-year course at the Academy of Mendrisio."

For the Junior category: Tiago Dosantos Morais, Université de Lausanne, "Fragments d'un discours silencieux : les papiers peints du Domaine de La Doges à La-Tour-de-Peilz".
