USI's presence in Locarno is further strengthened: Università della Svizzera italiana and PalaCinema announce that PalaCinema will open its doors to the new joint USI-Locarno Film Festival Chair. Some of its offices and spaces will be made available in addition to those at the Lugano Campus. What is also known as the "Home of Cinema and Audiovisuals" will therefore host Prof. Kevin B. Lee and his research group to promote new synergies with the institutions active within it and in the City on the shore of Lake Maggiore.

USI Rector Boas Erez: "Prof. Kevin B. Lee will have access to the space needed to carry out his activities as Chair both at the USI campus in Lugano and at the Palacinema in Locarno. Prof. Lee's competence, dynamism and commitment will thus be put to good use both for teaching activities and for the Locarno Film Festival, as well as for the entire Ticino region".

Carla Speziali, President of the Board of Directors of Palacinema Locarno SA: "One of the historical objectives that the City of Locarno, through Palacinema Locarno SA, had foreseen with the creation of this centre of audiovisual culture south of the Alps, has become a reality thanks to the presence of the joint Usi-Locarno Film Festival Chair. The goal, then as now, is to integrate in a systematic way of national and international importance, research and dissemination, education and activities, existing projects and new initiatives. This evolution fits perfectly into the vision for the development of our structure, in which the educational and research area is part of the cultural tradition of excellence embodied since the middle of the last century by the Locarno Film Festival".

PalaCinema Director Roberto Pomari: "This agreement is perfectly in line with our role as a privileged platform for the encounter and development of collaborations between operators in the film industry, audiovisual production and research. We are very pleased to open our home to the Chair. We are certain that it will not be long before we see a return in terms of planning and dynamism, which will allow us to profile ourselves internationally as a place of production, study, research and innovation in the audiovisual sector".
