Join the USI commission for sustainability in supporting the "SostA... verso un Ateneo sostenibile" project for sustainability
The USI SostA project commission is looking forward to welcoming onboard crucial stakeholders: USI students.
You’ll have the chance to:
- Join the committee for sustainability debates;
- Support the commission in raising awareness for sustainability among the academic community;
- Support the committee in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals;
- support environmental sustainability as an institutional principle.
- Be informed about the main students' organizations for sustainability at Swiss level activities and projects through the Swiss association of student organisations for sustainability VSN-FDD-FSS;
- Be a student ambassador;
- Take part in projects that help to achieve a nationwide impact.
The Project background
The general objective of the "SostA... verso un Ateneo sostenibile" project is to achieve environmental, economic and social responsibility at USI.
The specific objectives are:
- to improve energy efficiency;
- to introduce and strengthen sustainability criteria in daily management and purchasing;
- to raise the awareness of the USI community;
- to guide USI towards a sustainability model.
USI Sustainability and Environmental Impact Report (in Italian only) includes information on what has been done over the years, on the current sustainability started, and on those to come.

Upcoming big event: save the date!
The next big event dedicated to sustainability at academic level, Sustainable University Day will take place on 29th April 2022 in Mendrisio on the campuses of USI and SUPSI.
It is promoted by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences through the U-Change programme and organised in collaboration with USI and SUPSI.
USI students are invited to take part in this event and join both the students involved in the Focus Sustainability project and the SUPSI students participating in the realization of the event.
