The exhibition "Le molte facce del contagio" (The many faces of contagion), a project by the USI-affiliated Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) and L'ideatorio USI in collaboration with the City of Bellinzona and Fondazione Sasso Corbaro, will be open from 9 April to 6 November 2022 in the Sala Arsenale of Castelgrande in Bellinzona.
A mere virus highlighted the tricky balance between forced isolation to avoid contagion and the human desire to be contaminated with ideas, culture and relationships. We will discover how we are all a splendid mixture of rational creatures who rely on modern medicine and, at the same time, are drenched in those ancestral instincts fuelled by pandemic fears. We will explore the past and present views, the social representations of illnesses and their consequences on society with an indelible thread: the development of science that has made it possible to take decisive steps in the fight against major epidemics. Through games, interactive stations and video testimonies, we will discover the many faces of contagion.
