A chance to get to know each other and discover university life beyond courses, study and exams. The YOUniversity USI SUPSI evening was held on Thursday, 29 September, on East Campus Lugano. USI and SUPSI first-year students were able to mingle and socialise while spending a fun-filled evening with music, Caribbean dancing and DJ sets.
The evening, organised by the USI Student Corporation, USI recognised student associations and the SUPSI Student Association, was an opportunity to welcome new students at USI and SUPSI.
The student associations of the two institutions were able to introduce themselves and explain their activities offered on the campuses and beyond before leaving room for entertainment on the notes of the USI Voices Concert, followed by Caribbean dancing by the USI Sports Service and a DJ set with Jilian Flame.
"I am very pleased with this joint party for first-year students, which shows that the collaboration between USI and SUPSI is not only institutional but also concretely touches our students", comments Deputy Rector Professor Lorenzo Cantoni. "There is no shortage of proposals for university life beyond courses, study and exams: I thank in particular the ten student associations that were present at the party, who introduced themselves and proposed their activities to the first-year students."
"It was with great pleasure that we welcomed first-year students from SUPSI and USI", states Professor Milena Properzi, Director of the Department of Innovative Technologies at SUPSI. "For them, a challenging journey begins, which we are happy to be able to experience and foster together, also through convivial moments, extra-curricular activities and events such as the one on Thursday organised at our campuses."
A first edition showered by the rain that, despite the weather, gives a glimpse of all the aggregative potential in view of the upcoming opportunities to meet and party in the large court of East Campus Lugano.
