The Doc.CH grants require applicants to be matriculated as a PhD student. Please verify the internal matriculation process with the USI faculty of your interest well in advance if you are not yet a PhD Student as this might take several weeks.

The Doc.CH grants in the humanities and social sciences (HSS) are awarded by the SNSF to promising researchers who wish to write a dissertation in the humanities and social sciences in Switzerland on a topic of their own choice.

Eligibility criteria

- Swiss nationals or have a Swiss degree or are already matriculated as PhD students in CH

- Submission up to 3 years after master’s degree

- 2 supervisors from different institutions

- Applicants must be  matriculated as PhD students on the project’s starting date

Future deadlines

15 March and 15 September 2023, 15 March 2024. As of 2025 the Doc.CH  scheme will be discontinued as per the Multiyear programme 2025-2028, where the SNSF will focus on career funding starting at the postdoc level.
