Marvin Blumer appointed Director of Operations at USI

Marvin Blumer will be USI's new Director of Operations. He was appointed at the end of an open call for applications that saw the participation of around fifty candidates. With this appointment, Università della Svizzera italiana takes another critical step in implementing its plan to strengthen its governance structure.

In this executive role, Marvin Blumer, who will take office starting April 2023, will be responsible for managing all USI's services for a total of about 250 administrative staff members. He will guarantee the transfer of the strategy defined by the Rectorate and the University Council into a coherent plan for the administrative and management services in support of academic activities.

"Marvin Blumer's candidature stood out in particular for his international experience, management skills and a strong focus on staff development: I congratulate him on his appointment and look forward to working with him soon in the management of the University," emphasises Deputy Rector Lorenzo Cantoni.

Marvin Blumer (1981, Swiss citizen, born in Ticino to parents from German-speaking Switzerland), after his high school diploma from the Scuola cantonale di commercio in Bellinzona, in 2005 he graduated in Business Economics from the University of Basel and in 2015 earned an Executive MBA from HEC Lausanne with a focus on Management and Corporate Finance. With his appointment at USI, Marvin Blumer returns to the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland after 18 years of professional experience working for global companies, where he took on important responsibilities and gained extensive experience in the markets of the EMEA region.
