MSCA COFUND 2025

Research Service

Submission deadline: 24 June 2025

Deadline: 24 June, 2025

MSCA COFUND supports new or existing doctoral programmes and postdoctoral fellowship schemes.

The aim of the action is to spread the best practices of the MSCA including international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary research training, as well as international and cross-sectoral mobility of researchers at all stages of their career.

Proposed programmes can cover any research disciplines ("bottom-up")

Eligibility

COFUND is a mono-beneficiary action.

A single entity established in an EU-member state of associated country for EU funding can take part setting up a fellowship scheme based on international mobility, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral experience.

Swiss entities can again apply as beneficiaries or join as an implementing partner in Horizon Europe.

Fellowships are either for doctoral or for postdoctoral students.

Funding and duration

COFUND’s usual duration is between 24 and 60 months (maximal duration) and should recruit at least 3 researchers. One fellowship must last at least 3 months.

For doctoral programmes, the allowance is €3.300 per person month. For postdoctoral programmes the allowance is €4.700 per person month.

A beneficiary can receive a maximum of €10 million per call.

The COFUND allowance is a “flexible” EU contribution that can be used to support any cost items of the programme (for the researcher or institution). COFUND funding can be used in full to cover the recruitment costs for each supported researcher, since it is equivalent to the minimum salary that researchers must receive.

Applicants are responsible for topping-up EU funding with their own or external complementary funds to implement the programme.

Applicants are encouraged to explore synergies with the Cohesion policy funds and the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
