Bilateral research cooperation initiative funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI). Supports mono- or interdisciplinary projects involving Swiss and Latin American researchers. Encourages scientific exchange, preliminary research, and collaboration through joint meetings, conferences, and workshops.

Eligibility

  • Swiss Principal Investigator (PI):
    • Must hold at least a PhD degree.
    • Must be employed at an eligible Swiss institution (universities, research institutes, universities of applied sciences) with a permanent position (min. 40%) unrelated to the RPG project.
  • Latin American Principal Investigator (PI):
    • Must be affiliated with an accredited university or public research institute.
    • Must hold a faculty or scientist position or have a PhD with several years of academic experience.
    • Must have a permanent position contract unrelated to the RPG project.
  • Project Team:
    • Co-investigators from Switzerland and Latin America, including MA, PhD, and postdoctoral students, can participate.

Funding and Duration

Grant amount: CHF 10,000 – CHF 25,000 per project.

  • Funds disbursed in two installments:
    • 80% upon signing the grant contract.
    • 20% after the final report is approved.
  • Funds must be spent in both Switzerland and at least one Latin American country.
  • Eligible expenses include travel, accommodation, consumables, research software, subcontracting (max 10%), publication costs, and childcare (max 5%).
  • Ineligible expenses: salaries, infrastructure, hardware, and overhead costs.
  • Project duration: 12 months.

Timeline of the Call

  • Call Launch: January 31, 2025.
  • Info Session: March 12, 2025 (16:00 Swiss time).
  • Application Deadline: April 30, 2025.
  • Evaluation and Funding Decision: April – July 2025.
  • Notification of Results: September 5, 2025.
  • Contract Signing: September 2025.
  • Earliest Project Start: September 30, 2025.
  • Latest Project End: December 31, 2026.
  • Final Report Deadline: December 31, 2026.
