Symphony for water and peace

In the context of the MEM Summer Summit 2018, a concert of the Blue Peace Orchestra will be held on Saturday 25 August from 9 p.m., in the court of the Lugano City Hall, organized in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the City of Lugano.

The concert is free and open to all, with the aim of raising public awareness of the issues of peace and water.

The Blue Peace orchestra will be giving its second live performance of the Symphony for water and peace”, a collaborative work composed by Mich Gerber (Switzerland), Alune Wade (Senegal), Tarek Younis (Jordan), Carlos Guzman (Costa Rica) and Serge Frasunkiewicz (Brasil). 

Each time the High Level Panel for Water and Peace meets, a new development of the symphony takes place. The project is coordinated by François Muenger and Jelena Milenkovic from the Geneva Water Hub. Musical direction and production are managed by David Carroll and Laurent Cabrillat from french label and studio Milk Music (Bordeaux).

The program of the concert in Lugano will include the 5 movements of the symphony:

  • Woda (Mich Gerber)
  • Saloum (Alune Wade)
  • Aguacero en el tropico (Carlos Guzman)
  • Firewater (Tarek Younis)
  • Chuva no Sertao (Serge Frasunkiewicz)

The orchestra will also play a selection of tunes based on the water and peace themes.
