List of acknowledged student associations

Several student associations have been created within the University. The main objectives are to improve relations between students and the institution and to enrich the range of educational and recreational offer during school. The associations are concerned mainly with the collection of didactic material, organisation of parties and meetings, cultural and sporting events, and networking among University students and the business world.

  • AGORÀ - Pastorale Universitaria

  • AIESEC

    AIESEC, founded in 1948, is the largest international youth organisation in over 120 countries. It is dedicated to youth leadership development through intercultural exchange programs, social projects, and personal and professional development opportunities. The goal is to inspire young people to become active and responsible global citizens.

  • Blockchain club

  • CLASH Ticino

    CLASH is a collective founded by medical students to fight discrimination and sexist attitudes within the medical community. They firmly believe that fostering education and increasing awareness is crucial for creating a healthcare system that is more equitable and inclusive.

  • Erasmus Student Network (ESN)

    Erasmus Student Network (ESN) provides opportunities for self-development under the principle of “Students Helping Students”. Among their activities, the association helps new students from different countries settle in, by showing the region and organizing events. ESN works to develop the conditions for present and future exchange students and to promote the exchange experience.

    The Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) is a student association with the goal of providing a platform for students interested in Google technologies, enabling them to learn, develop practical skills, and connect with other GDSC students around the world.

  • Il Letterificio

    The association aims to promote artistic, recreational, and social events, activities for cultural exchange, discussions on current affairs, and tools for cultural and artistic exploration in the Lugano region and within the university. While the preferred language is Italian, the association is committed to facilitating the participation of non-Italian speakers.

    L'Asterisco - The University Students Podcast, the voice of USI students, broadcasts news, events, curiosities, debates, and exclusive interviews from the campus. Students will also have the opportunity to propose programs and segments, contributing to the diversity of programming.

    Organizzazione Studenti Accademia (OSA) is the umbrella association of students at the USI Academy of Architecture. It supports the realization of ideas, projects, and proposals for a more fluid exchange of opinions. It encourages active participation and collaboration of all students in university life.

    The Association is born with a dual purpose. To promote philosophical reflection in Lugano beyond curricular hours, creating opportunities – for members and beyond – for discussion on philosophical topics.   • smusi - Studenti di medicina dell'USI

    smusi is the USI medical students association. It was established in the autumn of 2020 alongside the launch of the new MMed programme and is a member organization of swimsa. We advocate students' wishes and by organising events and other opportunities to connect we promote interaction between students, faculties and universities.

  • Student Association for Ukraine

    SAFU aims to aid Ukrainian USI and SUPSI students affected by the crisis. They organize fundraising events in Ticino and support charity foundations in Ukraine. Additionally, the association raises awareness of war's lasting impact, especially on vulnerable groups. They use art and academic conferences to engage the local and international community. Ukrainian students are supported through cultural events, mentoring, and networking.

    The association promotes events, tournaments, and casual play sessions to attract and engage individuals with varying levels of chess proficiency to foster interest in chess among university students and build a community for chess enthusiasts on USI Campuses.

    USCB focuses on investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, and financial markets. Activities include conferences, seminars, corporate training, collaborations with financial institutions, and creating networking opportunities.
