Initiatives for sustainability
Below you will find a series of initiatives implemented at USI in order to make the academic community more sustainable and attentive to the surrounding environment and society.
- For members of its own community, USI proposes the so-called environmental volunteering (or eco-volunteering): it includes all those actions aimed at the recovery and protection of natural resources at risk. In agreement with various organizations active in the Ticino area (and beyond), USI members will be able to donate their time, energy and commitment to do good to the surrounding environment. Among the organizations contacted, the Gruppo Verde Speranza (in Italian only) deals with the collection of urban waste in the Mendrisiotto and Lugano area. This group of young volunteers offers a large calendar of events for which it will be necessary to book your participation (at no cost) in order to better organize the management of the participants.
- USI, every year and in collaboration with the Red Cross Transfusion Service of Southern Switzerland, organises two appointments for blood donation at the Lugano and Mendrisio campuses. During the days of donation, organised in collaboration with SUPSI on 10-11.10.2023, there was a fair participation with a more than satisfactory balance of 89 actual donations (more information: Outcome of the last USI-SUPSI blood donation campaign).
