Servizio ricerca e trasferimento del sapere

17 Aprile 2020

By April 30 the SNSF will launch a new National Research Programme (NRP) on COVID-19 dedicated to biomedical and clinical research with a total budget of 20 Millions CHF. It will fund projects of 2 years.

The call will include the following topics:

  • Biology, immunology and immunopathology of the SARS-CoV-2 virus;
  • New epidemiological approaches (digital and genetic) and new prevention strategies;
  • Clinical characterization and clinical management of Covid-19;
  • Research and development of new vaccines and innovative diagnostic methods for reliable detection of Covid-19.

The aim of the programme is to exploit existing national research competencies to the maximum possible extent through collaborative research in large projects.

Projects should quickly develop recommendations and solutions to fight the current pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2.

At the same time, the NRP “Covid-19” aims at coordinating research efforts with the special measures that are being taken at the international level (World Health Organization, WHO and European Union initiatives). Therefore, collaboration with international networks and use of results of international research are encouraged.

Further information will be published by the end of April. Do not hesitate to contact Ms. Dafne Pedrazzoli ([email protected]) for tailored support.
