New SNSF Lead Agency agreement with Croatia

To simplify collaboration with Croatian researchers, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) has signed a Lead Agency agreement with the funding organization of Croatia (HRZZ).
Under the Lead Agency process, a joint application by researchers in Switzerland and Croatia can be submitted to one of the two national research funding organisations. The proposals must have a common research question and a joint research plan. According to the Lead Agency agreement, the parts of the projects in the individual countries must not be independent projects that could be carried out in isolation.
Applicants can choose which of the two funding organisations they want to apply to for financial support. They can either submit the application to the SNSF by the usual dates 1 April and 1 October, or as of October 2020 for HRZZ's submission deadline in January 2021.
