In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Marco Speroni, Founder and Head of Strategy of S'nce Group in Stabio. USI Degree: PhD in Communication, 2006.

How did you start your career?

After the master degree I decided to stay at USI and get a PhD in 2006. Then I co-founded with two colleagues of mine Your Interface, a digital agency in Lugano specialized in Digital Customer Experience. In 2011 I opted for a new adventure and in 2012 I co-founded S'nce Group, a digital agency of about 50 people and covering most of the competences related to the digital communication.

Why did you choose to found S'nce Group?

My dream was to create a distinctive and quite familiar working environment with a high-level positioning in the market.

What is your current role/duties?

My role is Head of Strategy, my main tasks are team management and supervision to the projects.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in S'nce Group?

In a market where everything chance very quickly I would say that observational skills and common sense are very important. The ability to observe and interpret changes and new trends is probably the most important element for a successful career in S'nce.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

I had the opportunity to work on concrete projects during my overall study programme. This is very important for being market ready. Moreover, at USI there were a lot of research institutes and labs specialized in different aspects of communication. They helped me a lot in understanding which aspects of communication I could be more interested in.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

I would suggest to take time for understanding what you want to do and to be. The switch from studies to the job market can be very impactful if you don't have quite clear ideas. My suggestion is the test yourself as much as possibile during the studies, get in touch with labs, study abroad, in order to be more conscious of what you really want when you will look for a job.
