In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Marco Montefiori, Director of Business Development in Gruppo Montenegro in New York (US). USI Degree: Master in Economia e politiche internazionali, 2005.

How did you start your career?

I moved to New York in 2006 because I wanted to have a working experience in a major city, and I started working for a Marketing company focused on FMCG named Green House Agency, at that time I was in charge of some niche brands owned by Heineken USA.

Why did you choose a career in Gruppo Montenegro?

I share a lot of values with my current company, such as a strong business ethic, passion for details and our product, and a log term international plan. And last but not least, I simply love the alcohol beverage industry, it's a fun environment, and as someone said: Choose a Job You Love, and You Will Never Have To Work a Day in Your Life!

What is your current role/duties?

I'm the Director of Business Development.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in Gruppo Montenegro?

We are a small business unit surrounded by gigantic companies; for sure we must think forward, think fast and make sure not loosing any opportunities. Being able to intemperate what will happen in the near future is the key to the success.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

High Level of education end International environment.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

Manly a sophisticated point of view on the international market and the globalized world.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

Stop for a moment (or even longer...) and find what you like to do.
