Award for Best Teaching to Carla Mazzarelli

During the USI's 28th Dies academicus, held on Saturday, 4 May 2024 on the West Campus Lugano, the Award for Best Teaching was awarded to Carla Mazzarelli, Full Professor at USI Academy of Architecture, "for the quality of her teaching".

The Award for Best Teaching is an honour, accompanied by a prize of CHF 10,000, awarded in turn to a professor from one of USI's Faculties.

Carla Mazzarelli has studied history of modern art and museology at the University of Roma Tre and the University of Florence, and received scholarships from the Foundation for the study of art history "Roberto Longhi", the Accademia di San Luca-British Academy, and the Accademia dei Lincei at the Courtauld Institute in London. She obtained a PhD in History and Conservation of works of art and architecture at the university of Rome 3 in 2005. From 2007 to 2009, she was a post-doc researcher and professore ex cattedra in History of art criticism in the university of Calabria. She presently teaches the history of modern art at the Istituto di studi italiani (ISI) of USI. Her studies deal mostly with classical tradition between the 17th and the 19th c. and with the transmission of models and the reproducibility of art during the early modern period. She received in 2014 the Research Support Grant of Paul Mellon-Centre for British Art (Yale University). In 2018 she obtained the Italian qualification as Associate Professor. Among her most recent publications : La pittura di storia in Italia (with G.
