The Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) is an independent institution regulated by the Swiss public law and it is separated from public administration. According to the Law on the Università della Svizzera italiana and the related implementing regulation, USI carries out its mandate thorough a service contract stipulated with the Republic and Canton of Ticino.
Its organisational structure is defined by the Statute of the Università della Svizzera italiana.
