Administration and services

USI administration comprises of different services and it is under the Rectorate responsibility, and through the Rectorate, under the University Council. Services are coordinated by the Administrative Director and - on Mendrisio Campus - by the Adjunct Administrative Director (Academy of Architecture General Manager).

Affiliated institutes and associated institutes are independent from an administrative point of view.

Administrative functions are almost entirely carried out by the administrative staff, librarians, technicians and auxiliary staff. Sometimes the administrative duties such as study programmes management or administration of the Institutes are carried out by the intermediate staff.

Cristina Largader

Cristina Largader (1966, Swiss citizen) graduated in 1992 in Business Economics from the "Luigi Bocconi" University of Milan. In 2002, she was appointed Head of Finance and Controlling at the Cardiocentro Ticino Foundation, and promoted Deputy Director in 2011. At the Cardiocentro Ticino – which for several years has been acknowledged as being among the best employers in Switzerland – Cristina Largader implemented a series of new and more efficient processes in different sectors of the clinic, including the reorganisation of the human resources unit. Previously, from 1997 to 1999, she was financial controller - among others - at the public utilities company of the City of Lugano (AIL Aziende Industriali di Lugano), and at the Cantonal administration (1999-2002), where she also took on the role of Deputy Head of the Finance Section. Cristina Largader was appointed Administrative Director of USI in July 2017, undertaking a number of reorganisations, including the important revision of pension plans and the implementation of a collective labour agreement for staff members.

Antoine Turner

Member of the Transition Committee

Antoine Turner (1963) is Adjunct Administrative Director of USI and General Manager of the Mendrisio campus (Administrator of the Academy of Architecture), since December 2002. In this function, he is in charge of the administration of academic studies (admissions, management and organisation of courses, examinations and students, and academic mobility), of the front desk, of human resources, of campus logistics, and of finances (budget and accountancy). He graduated in Economics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), with a major in Finance and Accountancy and a dissertation on international marketing. From 1986 to 2002, he was employed in the corporate sector in financial and administrative management positions.
