Informative sessions in Lugano

On 14 and 15 September, new students enrolled in one of the programmes offered on the Lugano Campus will have the opportunity to participate in several information sessions.

Each session will last 45 minutes.

What can you discover?

  • EU/EFTA students: Residence permit, population control and health insurance exemption
    • ​Residence permit: during their study period, international students who wish to stay in Switzerland must apply for a residence permit for educational purposes. The application for the permit must be submitted within 14 days of arrival in Switzerland.
    • Residents' Registration Office: all international students and Swiss students domiciled in communes other than the one where they are staying for study purposes must register with the Residents' Registration Office of their municipality of residence.
    • Health insurance exemption: every person domiciled/resident in Switzerland is obliged to take out health insurance or to obtain the relevant exemption/confirmation of non-subjection within three months of entering Switzerland.
      International students who hold a residence permit (B or L permit) for study purposes may be exempted from the obligation to take out compulsory health insurance in Switzerland; this applies to students from EU/EFTA countries who hold a European Health Insurance Card.

      International students with a residence permit (permit B or L), who cannot be exempted from the obligation to take out compulsory health insurance in Switzerland, can benefit from the Swisscare group insurance policy with the insurer Europäische Reiseversicherung AG, a compulsory health coverage at more advantageous conditions.
