Structure and contents

The Master in Health is a two-year, full-time program (120 ECTS) built on three pillars:

  1. Foundational Core Courses (Semester 1): Common to all students, covering Health communication, Research approaches in health, Fundamentals of global and public health, Digital health, Project management, Health economics, and Health policy.
  2. Major Specialization (Semester 2-4): Students choose one of three Majors where they will focus their studies and competencies:
    • Digital Public Health
    • Health Communication
    • Health Economics and Management

In the final semester, each Major has specific options for theses, internships or field projects, and mobility. Each major lists these on their respective websites.

Major in Digital Public Health

 

This Major recognizes that the global digital transformation is both a profound challenge and a unique opportunity to understand popu
lation health and guide action to improve it in equitable and sustainable ways. You will learn to integrate foundational public health competencies with cutting-edge digital approaches, harnessing innovation while critically assessing its impact on communities and populations—from epidemiology to prevention, from health promotion to systems thinking. You may also tailor your education and training by choosing from a wide range of elective courses.

You will be prepared for roles such as public health officer or specialist, digital health strategist, epidemiologist, mHealth consultant, health data scientist, innovation officer in public health agencies, or project and programme manager in governmental agencies, NGOs, local and national public institutions, international organizations, research institutes, consulting firms, and health services"

Major in Health Communication: This Major recognizes that communication is central to improving health outcomes, particularly in an era of information overload, mis and dis-information, climate crises, social media influence, and vaccine hesitancy. Students learn how to design, implement, and assess impactful communication strategies that engage communities, empower individuals and policy makers, and promote healthy behaviors. They may also further specialize, by taking specific elective courses, in Cultural and Social Dimensions of health, or Sustainability.

Among the career pathways of the graduates of this major we mention: Health communication specialist, campaign manager, behavioral insight consultant, journalist or science writer, digital content strategist and others working in health departments of public administrations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, non-profit organizations, hospitals, health insurance, biotechnology, health technology, and pharmaceutical companies, public relations agencies, start-ups, and universities.

Major in Health Economics & Management (starting in A.Y. 2027/2028 - more information will be available from September 2026): This Major applies economic principles to healthcare, focusing on market imperfections, insurance dynamics, and the impact of public policies on delivery, financing, and innovation. Students acquire modern analytical and data-driven tools, drawing on behavioral insights and research to design better policies and manage complex health systems.
