Date: /

Aula Magna, Lugano Campus

On 13 June at 8:30 pm in the Lugano campus aula magna - on the eve of the feminist strike - the Law Institute and the Equal Opportunities Service will bring to USI a theatrical performance on the history of Emilie Kempin-Spyri (1853-1901), the first Swiss jurist. A temporal and emotional journey made by yesterday's Emilie and all the Emilies of today to address important gender issues.

Unique, universal. It is the story of Emilie Kempin-Spyri, the first woman jurist in Switzerland who, at the end of the 19th century, was forced to emigrate to the United States because she could not practice law in her own country. The show will capture the audience for an hour allowing to experience the physical, temporal and emotional journey made by Emilie, and all the Emilies of yesterday and today, to find their own place of justice and freedom in the world.

Through the re-enactment of this very important figure in Swiss history, and not only, the show offers a reflection on the role of women in civil society, politics, work and private.

A reception will follow.

Also, in the near future, in view of the feminist strike of 14 June, the Equal Opportunities Service will place on the campuses of Lugano and Mendrisio special boxes to which you can anonymously entrust your thoughts, your testimonies and proposals on how to make USI an increasingly open, fair and inclusive study and work environment.

What does it mean for you to have equal opportunities?
Do women and men actually have equal rights?
Have you ever felt discriminated against?

The thoughts you leave in the boxes - placed at easily identifiable intersections - will provide USI with valuable guidance for planning future activities on gender equality and diversity issues.
