China Today: From Tiananmen to Hong Kong

For the Day of the Imprisoned Writer (November 15), PEN International (Ticino chapter) organises - in collaboration with Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and Franklin University Switzerland (FUS) - two public events with Ilaria Maria Sala, a journalist based in Hong Kong who will talk about the city and people she now calls home and the struggles it faces.

Ilaria Maria Sala was born in Italy and grew up in Bologna and Florence. She has studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, Beijing Normal University, and Beijing University. After some years in Japan, she now lives in Hong Kong, where she is Vicepresident of the local PEN chapter.

The first event, in English language, is organised at the North Campus of FUS on Monday, November 25, at 5:30PM (www.fus.edu)

The second event, in Italian language, takes place at the USI Lugano campus (room A-31, Red building) on Tuesday, November 26, at 6PM
