132 new USI graduates in Economics

USI Faculty of Economics awarded Bachelor’s and Master’s diplomas to 132 students of 12 different nationalities, and gave recognition to students with the best grade point average. The ceremony was held yesterday in the Lugano campus Aula magna. 

Faculty Dean Prof. Gianluca Colombo, and USI Rector Prof. Boas Erez welcomed the new graduates in Economics. Before the diplomas were awarded, students had the chance to hear speeches by two alumni: Cecilia Aquila, CFO at Cardiocentro Ticino (Bachelor in Economics in 2010, Master in Banking & Finance in 2012 and PhD in Economics in 2018); and Giordano Macchi, Deputy Director of the Contributions Division at the Cantonal Administration (Bachelor in Economics in 2000).

After the 62 Bachelors were awarded, the Premio dell’Associazione Bancaria Ticinese for the best Bachelor grade point average was assigned to Nicola Rossini by ABT Director Franco Citterio. Ludovica Marcotti was awarded the prize for the best Master grade point average. Elia Degiorgi received the EFG Pietro Balestra Prize for quantitative subjects, by the hands of the Head of Private Banking Sopraceneri of EFG and professor of mathematics at USI Roberto Ferretti. Mariya Andreeva and Eva Parietti received the ASQ Prize for the best thesis in the Master in Management, awarded by Francisco Caratti and Emanuele Pizzati, resp. Vice President and Head of Development and Cooperation of the Swiss Managers' Association.

USI Alumnus Michele Campana (Bachelor in Economics 2009) and current manager of Football Club Lugano talked about his experience in the working world, followed by a brief speech on the services provided to students after graduation by Silvia Invrea, Head of the USI Alumni Service. To close the ceremony 70 Master’s were awarded.
