(postponed) Sustainable Natural Resources Governance in the SDGs Era: Responsibilities of States and Investors
Date: / -
Auditorium, USI Lugano campus
The USI Institute of Law (IDUSI) organises a seminar and workshop to discuss the responsibilities of States and investors for the sustainable use of natural resources. The event will take place in the autumn 2020 (date t.b.a.).
The event will be held in the context of the 7th meeting of the Committee of the International Law Association (ILA) on "The Role of International Law for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources". The Committee, which is composed of lawyers, academics, industry professionals and representatives of national and international institutions, has the mandate to contribute to the progressive development of international law for sustainable development and sustainable management of natural resources.
The event will consist of two parts: the first is an afternoon seminar open to students, the academic community and the public; the second is an evening stakeholder workshop subject to mandatory registration.
The aim of these two meetings is to create a platform for dialogue between academics, public administrators, practitioners and the private sector in order to discuss the concrete challenges and opportunities entailed by the need to transition to a sustainable model of natural resources management and governance from a bottom-up perspective. In particular, feedback from different stakeholders during the final workshop will be incorporated into the ILA Committee guidelines on sustainable management of natural resources.
All reports and discussions will be held in English.
The detailed programmes of the afternoon seminar and of the evening workshop are attached.
