Inauguration ceremony of the East Campus in live streaming

The official inauguration ceremony of the new East Campus in Lugano will be streamed live on Monday, 22 March 2021, at 11:00 am. The President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research Guy Parmelin (EAER), will also participate in the ceremony.

The official inauguration of the new university campus will take place in accordance with current regulations, with a limited number of people in attendance. All other interested parties will have the opportunity to follow the event online. The ceremony will be hosted by Boas Erez, Rector of USI, and Franco Gervasoni, General Director of SUPSI. Monica Duca Widmer, President of the USI Council, and Alberto Petruzzella, President of the SUPSI Council and President of the Steering Committee of the campus project, will open the event. The event will feature municipal, cantonal and federal authorities: Marco Borradori, Mayor of the City of Lugano, Manuele Bertoli, State Councillor, Director of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS) and Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research  (EAER).

Moreover, it will be possible to take part in a virtual tour of the campus, thanks to the architects Simone Tocchetti and Luca Pessina.
