Farewell to Mayor Marco Borradori

With profound sorrow, the academic community of Università della Svizzera italiana remembers Mayor Marco Borradori with deep gratitude, thanking him for his tireless work to make Lugano a university city.
Marco Borradori was a Mayor who was always there for the University. Despite the considerable work required to maintain a united community following the urban aggregation, he never stopped looking ahead and supporting new projects. Several of these involve the University more or less directly, helping Lugano to establish itself as a university city.
In his memory, we share the words of Lorenzo Cantoni, USI Pro-rector for education and students' experience, who spoke with RSI during the funeral ceremony at the Cornaredo stadium, and we share the recent speech Marco Borradori gave at the XXV Dies academicus of USI on Saturday, May 8, 2021.
